NOTES:

Enduring Friends (The lasting friends for life and beyond life)

 There are four components of the enduring and meaningful relationships of life.

            Character

    • When someone has character it is synonymous for being truthful or more importantly true to themselves.

    • Character then comes from knowing ourselves, and being true to the knowing.

    • The Enneagram is a great instrument to help us discover and live out our unique design. When we are true to our character, we are true to the relationships that we are involved in, for and beyond life with.

    • Friendship is a celebration of character. We enjoy the traits that are present in the relationship.

    • Celebrated relationships first start by celebrating and enjoying character qualities. We can’t give away what we don’t have. If we don’t enjoy who we are it will be a challenge to enjoy others.

    • It is the accepting of the person just the way they are because I have accepted myself for who I am.

    • Each is celebrating the ‘I am ness’. 

            Chemistry

    • Chemistry is something you know when you have it and something you know when you don’t.

    • It usually doesn’t take too long to identify ‘the mojo’.

    • Chemistry definition: - the properties of substances and the ways in which they interact, combine, and change; the use of these processes is to form new substances. - the complex emotional or psychological interaction between two people.

    • Notice the ‘it factor’.

    • Ask: Am I bonding?

            Competency

    • There are certain things that I am good at and there are certain things that another person is good at.

    • We work well within our strengths when they are acknowledged, appreciated and used.

    • There is a celebration of our likenesses and the synchronicity of differences.

            Multiplicity

    • When we have a good awareness of our character, chemistry and competency and use them with cooperation we will have the opportunity of multiplying that which is meaningful.

    • The definition of chemistry may be good to repeat here. “The investigation of the properties of substances and the ways in which they interact, combine, and change; the use of these processes to form new substances.”

    • We have the opportunity lasting and enduring friendship to not only change ourselves but change our world. We can bring what is good.

    • Philippians 4:8,9 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy— think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

    • We can put into practice that what we have seen, and we get to create together.

    • We create something tangible and meaningful together.
