5 STAGES OF GRIEF
Grief is simply the normal process of reacting to loss. We grieve in rows, nows and hows. To grieve or mourn well means to be really in touch with our feelings but not own them.

5 Stages Of Grief:
We grieve three ways; we grieve in rows, we grieve now’s and we grieve in how’s
1. Rows – Many cultures grieve in circles but our culture grieves in rows. We, as funeral attenders, sit with one line of grievers sitting behind another line of grievers with the chief grievers sitting on the front line. Other cultures grieve differently. The Jewish culture sits Shiva
2. Nows – We don’t see the bigger picture of our grief. We don’t see the connection between our lives and someone else’s. We don’t see the interconnection between generations and with our planet. The Iroquois nation lived their lives with 7 generations in mind.
3. How’s – We try to explain or look for reasons why bad things happened and then correct those. We take vengeance on those who caused the pain and for how we can get even.
To grieve or mourn well means to be really in touch with our feelings but not own them. It means putting our feelings in a place where we can look at them but not identify with them. It is one thing to say “I feel sad” and another to say, “I am sad”.
